How does the WaterMaker work?
The atmosphere holds a lot of moisture which is free for the taking. WaterMaker" uses refrigeration techniques to condense this humidity from air. Air is sucked into the system through an electro static filter. Cooled coils located in the path of air provide a temperature differential between the air and the coil surface resulting in condensation which is funneled into a holding tank which has a level switch controlling the water making cycle. Water is then passed through various filters to remove solids, oxygenates, and to remove any odour & to eliminate any bacterial content. Pure drinking hot and cold water is then supplied through the dispenser tap. However in the SOHO, only cold and ambient temperature water can be dispensed.

How will it operate in areas with no humidity?
Low humidity conditions are a challenge for any system that extracts moisture from the air. The system will not produce water during the day in deserts or in very hot climates due to less humidity. However it will still produce water at night due to the dew point factor. The machine will trip off when the humidity goes below 35RH.

What happens when I am away for a weekend?
Please switch off the machine if you are away for more then 3-4 days and as a health safety measure, drain out the entire machine prior to restarting upon your return.

Does the WaterMaker meet current EPA testing standards?
It more than meets the current standards of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) & also World Health Organisation (WHO) norms.
Top
How often do I need to change the water filters?
The carbon filters will need to be changed every 6 months. When the UV filter needs to be changed the UV icon on the screen will light up in the SOHO indicating you need to change the UV light. For other machines, water dispensing will stop automatically in case of UV failure indicating that the UV needs to be changed.
Top
What sort of air filter is it?
It is an electrostatic filter. Same as you find in a lot of air conditioner filters.
Top
How often do I need to clean the air filter?
This depends on where the machine is located and air quality. However, about once a month you should look at the electrostatic air filter and if it appears dirty then rinse it out with a tap or hose water, dry it completely and refit in the casing.
Top
Are spares available?
All spares are available.
Top
How is WaterMaker powered?
WaterMaker can operate on electrical power, solar power or with oil powered generators. For SOHO, you need a 5 amp power point and for larger machines, a 15 amp power point.
Top
What sort of power point do I need?
A normal household 10 amp 3 pin plug delivering 240 Volts.
Top
How much power does the machine consume making water?
Power consumption is dependant on the production capacity of each machine. For details please refer to the product specifications.
Top
What is the machine's life span?
If the machine is used as designed and as specified in the owner's manual and proper maintenance procedures are employed, then the unit will operate for over 8-10 years.
Top
What is the warranty on SOHO?
SOHO has a one year warranty from date of purchase.
Top
What is the service backup provided?
The company provides 4 free services in a year. The company also offers an annual maintenance contract.
Top
How much does the SOHO machine weigh?
The machine weighs 42 kilograms.
Top
What temperature is the water dispensed at?
Cold water is dispensed at 6-10 degrees Celsius.
Top
What happens if I do not want ice-cold water?
There is a button on the panel. Simply depress if you do not want cold water. All water dispensed will then be at room temperature.
Top
How much water per day will the machine make?
At 70% humidity the machine will make 25 litres in 24 hours. However, in most places the humidity increases at night and thus the machine will make more during the evening hours than say 12 noon on the verandah.
Each machine is supposed to produce water as per its rated capacity, provided the humidity is between 65-70 RH and temperature between 25-32 degrees centigrade. If these factors are on the lighter side, the machine will produce more. Similarly, if factors are lower, the machine will produce less.
Top
Will it work in air-conditioned environment?
Yes, but the output is likely to drop.
Top
How much water does the machine store?
As per the machine's production capacity, each machine has approximately 50-65% storage space. This could vary from machine to machine.
Top
What conditions does the machine work best under?
Please refer to product specifications.
Top
What happens if I have a problem?
Please contact the party from whom the machine was purchased after checking the simple trouble shooting points given in the owner's manual.
Top
Where are they made and who is behind the manufacturer?
The machines were developed in Israel. The parent company is a Miami based USA Corporation. The small SOHO machines are made in China under international license, the larger machines up to 500 litres are being made in India and Israel. Units above 500 litres and all mobile units are made in Israel and Greece.
Top
When will my machine start making water?
Water will be dispensed within 4-6 hours from startup.
Top
How much does it cost to operate?
Under ideal conditions, the cost of production of water in India will be around Rs. 1.50 / 4 cents per litre assuming per unit cost of electricity is Rs. 4.50 / 10 cents per unit.
